Founder/First Employee/Operations Team

An abreviated bio goes something like this -- high school, college, US Navy, graduate school, work, marriage, business owner. I have been part of the outdoor, environmental, consesrvation movement my entire life. As a young child, my father would allow me to camp in our back yard most nights (often on school nights) and I was very outspoken about nieghborhood tree preservation. My childhood enthusiasm for the great outdoors has endured well into my adult years and that passion provides guidance for most of my decisions in life.

Finance Team 

Dori has been a cornerstone of our company for over a decade, guiding us  through some of our most profitable years while also providing diligent  management during lean times. Her calm demeanor and soft-spoken nature  create a reassuring presence within the Finance Team. Always maintaining  a positive attitude, Dori embodies the qualities one looks for in a  leader, ensuring that our financial operations are both effective and  harmonious. Her leadership has been instrumental in our continued  success.

Office Team

Toby brings a wealth of experience in the healthcare field to our company, adeptly managing all the administrative challenges that many of us find difficult to navigate. We are incredibly grateful to have her on our team. Beyond her administrative expertise, Toby serves as a vital sounding board for our creative ideas, often grounding us with her insightful perspective. Her support and guidance ensure we stay focused and aligned, making her an invaluable asset to our success.

Operations Team

Deserae has been with One World Company for 14 years and has grown alongside it as the company’s brands and businesses have evolved. As Operations Manager, she works across the company to keep the many moving pieces connected, build systems that support the team, and help day-to-day operations run smoothly. With a relationships-first approach, she believes good systems should make work easier for the people using them. Outside of work, Deserae loves being outdoors, spending time with her family, and keeping up with her two crazy doodles.

Buying Team

Katie has been with us longer than any other employee, bringing a wealth  of experience in buying and merchandising to our company. Her extensive  knowledge and industry expertise have earned her great respect among  her peers. With a keen eye for emerging trends, Katie consistently  identifies opportunities that enhance our offerings and strengthen our  market position. Her commitment and insights make her an invaluable  member of our team.

Edenton Team

Ken brings a lifetime of leadership and a love of the outdoors to his role as Store Manager at Surf, Wind & Fire in Edenton. After retiring from a 35-year career with NC Farm Bureau, he traded the traditional retirement plan for something a little more adventurous. Winters find him in Colorado working the lifts at Steamboat Resort, while the warmer months bring him back to Edenton and SWF. A longtime member of the Edenton community, Ken has also spent years volunteering with local organizations. When he isn’t working or volunteering, you’re likely to find him cycling, hiking, skiing, or planning his next outdoor adventure.

North Carolina and South Carolina

or several decades, Sheila has been an outspoken advocate for our  industry. Her experience spans all aspects of retail, including buying  for department stores and specialty retailers, as well as design and  manufacturing. Over the past 10 years, she has concentrated her efforts  on sales and marketing. If you're involved with the outdoor surf  industry anywhere in the Southeast, it’s likely that you're  collaborating with Sheila in some capacity. Her expertise and dedication  have made a significant impact on the industry and those who work  within it.

Virginia and West Virginia

Natalie has been a versatile asset to our company, wearing many  different hats throughout her tenure. Her journey began as an art  student, and she later earned her MBA, bringing a unique blend of  creativity and business acumen to her work. With her vivid imagination  and practical approach, Natalie plays a crucial role in driving the  company forward. While her primary focus is on sales and expanding  markets, she also lends her talents to our digital platforms and  photography, making her an invaluable member of our team.
